Create a one-of-a-kind Krampus Christmas ornament using Krampus Clay, an original sculpting material developed for the Krewe of Krampus from locally recycled bottle glass and other natural ingredients. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to make the material yourself, transform ordinary glass bottles into a unique artistic medium and discover techniques that can be used for ornaments, parade throws, decorations, jewelry and countless other creative projects.
We’ll cover the entire process, from preparing the recycled glass and mixing the clay to shaping, texturing and decorating your piece. Along the way, you’ll learn techniques for adding character and detail while discovering how sustainable materials can become part of your own creative practice.
The featured project for the day is a handcrafted Krampus Christmas ornament, but the techniques you learn can be adapted to create sustainable throws and decorations long after the workshop ends.
You’ll leave with a finished ornament and a fresh way of looking at how everyday materials can become something meaningful through creativity.
All supplies are included. We’ll have plenty of decorative materials available, but feel free to bring a few favorite bits and bobs to make your ornament uniquely yours.
This workshop is presented by Art of the Parade in collaboration with the Krewe of Krampus and will be held indoors in air-conditioned comfort.
