Missing Piece presents a unique and varied program of new duos by living composers for violin and cello, featuring compositions written for them by Liza Sobel Crane (based in Chicago), Sixto Franco (based in New Orleans), Danny Clay (based in San Francisco), and Myra Hinrichs (based in Los Angeles). Rounding out the program will be duos by Jesse Montgomery and Griffin Candey.
Missing Piece is south side Chicago-based musical duo, violinist Dan Galat and cellist Kelly Quesada, who endeavor to commision new musical and multidisciplinary works on themes that inspire others to connect with their community, care for our environment, listen deeply to ourselves and others, and speak out against injustice. Missing Piece has commissioned twenty-eight new works, including standard notation, text and graphic scores, poetry, movement, and improvisation.
